Valve just released an extended version of the Episode 2 trailer released some week ago, showing some new awesome gameplay sequences from the game. Really impressive, and an environment change was welcome.

Not exactly... The source engine has been updated since the release of HL2.

Support for HDR was one of the major updates.

Coming fall and they have added a new shadowing engine. If TF2 is bundled with this on the PC I will pick it up :D

Nice to see the best FPS ever coming to the 360, that's one port that's welcome...

Because 360GPU can't do open GL engines, so it was ported with another adapter layer to translate the Doom Engine.

Well thats my guess anyways, maybe some techno savy junky like Acert cant enlighten us.

HL2 was released less then 2 years ago (november 2004), so not 4 years old..

And like MethodicBR already said, the Source engine has been updated since with HDR, Depth of Field, Motion Blurr and plenty of other neat features and improvements..

I really can't wait for EP2.. Whatever Valve shows, it looks awesome..

The Doom 3 engine doesn't play nice with the 360 and... on the pc (my pc for example instead of normal 4XAA) I can activate adaptive antialiasing AND temporal anti-aliasing.

Instead of regular Anisotrophic Filtering I can activate High Quality Anisotrophic Filtering. Tons of unfair customization advantages when you truly think about it. With the console the developer can't give the player so much freedom as they have to think I'll ONLY make available what runs well and when you take into consideration that developers aren't yet running the 360 cpu at optimal is another factor that likely held the game back. Lord knows they aren't using the 360's gpu at anything close to optimal capability.

the 360 will easily be able to do those visuals. i have an athlon xp 3200+ and 9700 Pro, hardly even mid grade now days for a PC, not to mention about 5 times slower than a 360, maybe even 10. i can get between 42 and 80 some fps with half life 2 if i don't use AA or AF at 1024x768. yeah, the 360 will do this justice

im not a fanboy what so ever, but if you think the 360 cant handle this, just look at gears of war. if they really want it, they can do it.

Prey was not even ported by the actual creators. They hired a third party company to do the port.

Much like how Halo was ported to the PC by a company other than Bungie and was not so great.
