GTHD demo videos

Sony has been nice enough to release a demo (actually more like a concept game) of Gran Turismo HD, one day earlier than announced too :) So enjoy this short video showing one lap with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV.
Update: 720p version available.
Update2: Added a replay from the game's attract mode.
Update3: And to finish this night, what better than a lap in a Ferrari?
Update4: Last update with this reversed lap in a Evo IX tuned to the max. Yep, I'm pretty bad in that one.

Do you really think that the car models will look worse with more cars on track and AI implemented? Get a life. It's funny how defensive people get about their choice of console, and rather sad too. You can handle the fact that the PS3 has produced something that the Xbox 360 cannot even touch yet, and come out with all sorts of excuses as to why.

The track looks rather unimpressive because the environment and other assets are mainly ripped from GT4...the final game is one or two years away. Forza 2 is out Q1 next year. It doesn't stand a chance.
Who even mentioned the 360 or Forza 2?

The only thing the PS3 has produced so far that the 360 hasn't is Motorstorm, and that is just because the genre hasn't been delved into yet. The PS3 has no open world games like Saint's Row or Crackdown on the horizon (unless you want to count the not so hot Warhawk) and yet I don't believe it CAN'T do them, just that it HASN'T yet.

What's the use of having different cars when you only use the bumpercam? :P The different speeds? Use 3rd person view man! Just look at the beauty! ^^

whats all this GTHd wipe the floor with whatever crap?? so far i have seen nothing on PS3 that is not matched, or dwarfed by something on 360...so far...and GTHD is not very impressive visually, i think PGR3 is more impressive. but hey, its not all about the graphics! bring on GT5

Actually the moutain on the horizon is a bitmap. The one you see "on top" of the village is 3D.
Yeah, that's what I meant...thanks for backing me up Blim. :)

looks pretty nice....looks realistic, but track looks a little sparse

saying pgr3 or forza to looks better is a little ridiculous...forza 2 hardly looks impressive yet either in gameplay at least....pgr3 looks great, though not as great as people seemingly seem to be hyping it up to me now...what gives?

3rd person view is unplayable for me, the car is way too close to the camera.

Looks real nice, and the fact that is just a beefed up port of GT4 just in HD, is saying a whole lot. GT5 is going to look unreal

3) GT5 will have damage modelling. The reason why earlier GTs didn't is the plain fact that PS2 just couldn't handle it. Hell, even Xbox had trouble with it (Forza ran 30fps and the damage modelling wasn't too good). Now that PS3 is many, many, many times more powerful than PS2, they can improve the physics, damage model, AI and, finally, add an online multiplayer. Because GT HD Concept is just an updated GT4, it doesn't have any of the bigger features that will be added into GT5.

Well, you should be happy as they just decided to do that. THEY ARE NOT DEVELOPING GT HD ANYMORE, THAT'S WHY THEY'VE RELEASED THIS !!!!FREE!!!! DEMO OF IT. THEY'RE NOW FULLY CONSENTRATING ON GT5. ALL THE POSSIBLE TRACKS THAT ARE RELEASED FOR GT HD WILL PROBABLY HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM GT5, AND IS JUST SOMETHING TO KEEP THE FANS HAPPY.

So really, stop complaining.
I like when people tell others they should stop pretending to know what they are talking about, and then make crap up themselves...

GT1-4 never had damage modeling for a reason.... the same reason almost every other car racing game in existence had too... because they were not allowed to. Car manufacturers never gave permission until recently to allow their cars to be deformed and mangled. With Forza, it didn't "look very good" because they were not allowed to portray damage that would stop a car from functioning.... not because the xbox couldn't handle it.... My guess is the same will happen with GT5, and Forza 2...

I saw a lot of people referring to this demo as a souped-up GT4, which is incorrect. When Polyphony Digital was still developing GT:HD, it was supposed to come in two parts:

1. GT:HD Classic: a slightly improved GT4 with 1080p graphics
2. GT:HD Premium: a preview of GT5, with new physics, graphics and such

What we have here now is the GT:HD Premium part, which means that it is not just GT4 in HD or something, rather than the current state of development on the way to GT5. The track, the car models and most other elements are actually new, and not just coiped and polished parts of GT4.

... just wanted to point that out.

Are you ****** kidding me!? I downloaded GTHD last night on my PS3 and it has a beautiful engine but it has its problems. Those are fanboy remarks that you should probably put in a can and throw down a steep hill. The 360 is a formidable competitor to PS3.

sad thing is that none of you that played the demo pointed out HOW GREAT THE NEW DRIVING EXPERIENCE IS! DFpro Wheel an the drift orgy can start! its like day and night compared to GT4!

and whatever you say... get a 1080p set and play it in 1080p@60fps, then say again it doesn't look great!

best cars ever, nice texture work, 60fps, great HDR support, 1080p... I'm wondering what you guys want more. It's the real deal, I love it...

Looks good, but PGR3 actually looked better, and that game released in 2005 for a console that's supposedly weaker than PS3. And we haven't even seen any gameplay footage of Forza yet, which I think will blow GT outta the water in terms of both gameplay and graphics.

i played this today at a friends house...im dissapointed with the PS3, the controller is soo light its like its not there, and its bad in a weird way...and the only thing that impressed me about GTHD were the vehicle models...after that we played Gears of War and i was speechless, way to kill my first impression of the PS3

I respect if people do not like GT for whatever reason, I mean the game is not perfect at all. However, I do not understand how you can say that this...

... looks better than this ...

Can you please specify what exactly it is that makes you think PGR3 looks better than GTHD?

@ theInterceptor

As usual when people compare screenshots they choose an absolutely awful one for the game they think looks worse.

Just for some clarification:

- GT4 could have easily done a simple damage model with the PS2, the reason they didn't was due to car makers not allowing their cars to be destroyed.

- This version of GT:HD is actually the core engine of GT5, it is in no way using the GT4 engine. GT5 will simply have added effects and hopefully a decent damage model.

- A better used comparison instead of PGR3 would be CM:DIRT. And if anyone has see the leaked gameplay footage, oh my goodness!

EDIT

And to anyone who thinks Forza 2 will not look anything short of astonishing, just wait.

I welcome anybody to show me screenshots and videos of his or her choice where PGR3 looks better than GTHD to explain their point. The latter is just an early demo on the way to GT5, which is not perfect to the pixel, but looks damn good already, and better in 99% of the cases than anything I've seen from PGR3. I'm okay if somebody likes PGR3 better, but you should always give any game the credit it deserves in certain ways, even if you don't like it.

Fair enough.

The cars look great in GT:HD, everything else piss poor.

see now that whats im talkin about, the detail in the whole city rendered in PGR3 is incredible, all of the buildings of NY all of the windows reflect the lighting, the in car view it just looks amazing...cant see how anyone would say the plain environment in this demo with a nice lookin background looks better than the entire city rendered in PGR3

some of you just forget that PGR3 is crap 1024x600 not even at 30fps and GTHD is 1920x1080 @ 60fps.

PGR3 looks kind of plastic... I like the GT style better. but PGR3 is a great game anyway but wont stand a chance against GT5 thats for sure... PGR4 maybe ;-)
