GTHD demo videos

Sony has been nice enough to release a demo (actually more like a concept game) of Gran Turismo HD, one day earlier than announced too :) So enjoy this short video showing one lap with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV.
Update: 720p version available.
Update2: Added a replay from the game's attract mode.
Update3: And to finish this night, what better than a lap in a Ferrari?
Update4: Last update with this reversed lap in a Evo IX tuned to the max. Yep, I'm pretty bad in that one.

GT4 was the pinnacle of visuals on the PS2, so I expect nothing less of GT5.

Personally I prefer the more stylized look of PGR3; it has a personality.

Without doubt though there are going to be some astounding driving games across both formats:

GT5, PGR4, Colin McCrae:Dirt, Forza 2, TOCA, F1...

Both of those videos do look stunning. There are some things to be taken into consideration here though.

1. resolution
In the 1440x720p videos and 1920x1080 pictures Polyphony provided of GTHD, you will see the slightest fault in graphics right away, due to the enormously high resolution. If I load one of those videos up to Youtube, it looks not only totally different, but also much better, because the low resolution and high compression blur every fault.

2. content
To compare things, they need to be comparable. There neither is a cockpit view in GTHD, nor is there a cities skyline. Now, you can say that it is GTHDs fault to lack content, and therefor, PGR is the better looking game. But you can also say that Mariah Carey looks better than Brad Pitt, because she has boobs, and he has not. See where I'm getting?

What I'm trying to say is that for a direct comparison, you need content that is directly comparable. Things that only one of the games has makes it superior to the other game in those categories, but it does not imply that therefor, it is the better game. It seems that there's a racetrack with some nature scenery in PGR3. Can anyone provide high quality pictures or -videos of that for a direct comparison?

... those videos do look amazing though, there's no doubt about that.

I'm not one to get involved in these kinda "this is better that that" arguments.

But IMO from first hand experience of playing PGR3 in HD on the 360... It left me cold.

Its a shame the game doesent actually look that good in HD, which really did let me down when it came to playing it. When its scaled down like that, even a PS2 game looks almost CG...

All it takes is a different view to make a game look better.

Im reserving judgement of GT-HD untill I get my hands on it.

I think the rest of your post flies in the face of that statement :)

I think PGR3 stands the test of time rather well, being a 360 launch title and a rushed one at that. I'm really looking forward to the next one and now that the FF Wheel is out, PGR3 has some new life in it.

More than anything, this GT:HD demo makes me want GT5. The car modeling is fantastic, wish there was a cockpit view, or atleast a hood cam.

lol, Grift, thats the point.

It's all down to Personal Opinion really, I just cant stand people bashing something they havent played yet.... reserve judgement untill you have played the damn thing.

I'm sure there was a Cockpit view in GT:HD?... infact..... here you go...

When I hit the change view button in the GT:HD demo, all I get is a bumper cam and a third person (car) cam..thus, I wish there was a cockpit view or a hood cam.

They must have taken it out then or left it for GT5? how strange..... wonder where that screen came from.
